Happy Halloween

We had a great night of Trick-or-treating with Braden. He loved saying Trick-or-Treat and getting the candy... even though he has never had candy and he doesn't even really know what it is. Dada did dress up (somewhat against his will) so he will get all the candy.
Here is a video and many many pictures:

Laughin'

Braden enjoyed taking all of his candy out of his pumpkin and then putting it all back in.

Fall Fun

Braden has enjoyed post-cast life:
We took a hayride at the Garrison's farm.

Celebrated W&M's Homecoming.

Enjoyed visits from family.

Cooks Halloween Party

We had a great time at the Cook's Halloween Party on Sunday afternoon. Braden loved living his dream to be a Yankee baseball player and hanging out with all his friends.

Busch Gardens fun

Busch Gardens has closed for the season, but we certainly got our moneys worth out of our passes this year. Dada got a pass that is good through next year and took his first trip to Busch with Braden. Fun was had by all!

Braden and Addy rode these rides by themselves for the first time last week. We were all thrilled that they didn't try to climb out!

The casts are off...

Braden had his casts removed on Thursday and the xrays looked good! The Dr. told us to "keep and eye on him" for a week or so and he should be fine... adding a little stress to our lives as Braden runs around the house and falls often. It is amazing how quickly young kids heal. Braden is now adjusting to having "no casts" and "two arms" as he repeats over and over again.

We are doing better...

We are hoping that this week we will hear only good news. Rozy goes to the Vet tomorrow to get her staples removed and we are hoping that she gets the all clear. Braden goes to the ortho. on Thursday to get his current casts taken off and have his arms xrayed to make sure they are helaing properly and have new casts put on. (We kinda wish we could give him a quick bath in between the two casts...) Needless to say we are a little tired, but thankful that things do seem to be turning around.
Here are some updated pictures:
Braden has enjoyed visits from many of his friends and of course Mumba and Papa:

Braden enjoys showing off the casts and having people mimic his "cast moves":

It never ends...

Whenever we think that things are going to start going smoother we face a setback. Today the setback was that Rozy has splenitis (infection of the spleen). She wil get IV antibiotics today and tomorrow and if that doesn't take care of it she will have to have her spleen taken out... not good. Braden loves showing his casts to the camera ... Rozy's "cast" is actually blue now
so they match. I will upload an updated picture when I get a chance.

Rozy Update

Well, Rozy is home. Braden loves that she also has a "cast" (from where her IV is still connected) Braden of course tells us that Rozy only has one cast and Braden has two casts. We are quite a scene here these days.
It is hard to tell how she is doing, but her temperature has stayed normal so that is good. She was able to eat a meal today as well. Unfortunately her incision sites are looking a little red and we are going to get that checked out tomorrow morning. We are a little frazzled and anxiety prone, but hopefully each day we will take a step forward. She is still the sweetest sweetums.

Rozy is out of surgery

When they opened Rozy up today they found 3 more skewers(the dog likes her chicken)... one had completely punctured her stomach and went through her spleen. We are hoping that she doesn't get an infection and that she recovers in about a week. Hopefully we can get her home soon...

We feel a little like Job must have felt...

Well, the good news is that Braden is doing better today.

The bad news is that Rozy had to be rushed into emergency surgery this morning because she ate a wooden chicken skewer. Braden screamed crying as they took Rozy away to get the surgery, kids understand so much more then we think they do!

What a sweet dog...

As if two broken arms wasn't bad enough...

Yesterday morning Braden woke up with a fever. I brought him into the dr. feeling a little like a crazed mom... but good thing I did, turns out he has strep. Yes strep on top of the two broken arms. After spiking a fever of 104 and looking like a tomato for a little while, the fever finally broke. He wasn't able to sleep much last night due to the strep or the arms... who really knows at this point, but seems to be doing a lot better today. He gets very frustrated with all the things he can't do with the casts, but is adjusting.
Thanks to all of you for all your concern for our little Bubby....
Here are some pictures of Braden enjoying some TV time (Little Einsteins and Curious George) which he didn't get that much of before these injuries/sicknesses.
He is still able to smile...

So you had a bad day....

Well as many of you already know, Braden broke both of his arms this morning. Our buffet table in the hallway somehow fell on him when he was trying to get a ball from underneath it. We are now back from the doctor, hospital, and ortho and he has his casts on. The goods news, if you can call it that, is that they were clean breaks and should heal rather well.
We are the worst parents ever... The guilt is overwhelming. We are looking forward to all the judgmental stares we are going to receive from strangers in public.
Braden keeps showing his cast to Rozy and George and says "two casts." He seems to be doing a lot better... the pain medication is kicking in I guess. Now his parents might need some medication for the trauma...
Here are some pictures:
